I hope my 20 minute drive comes under their phase one local travel. Phase 2 is organised boat trips etc so if non local is the same class as that it could be years

Golf. Similar to angling and can be argued, more political weight than angling. Courses open soon I believe. We might be out within a fortnight. Get those jobs at home squared away...

The local aspect might be interesting. Wonder what constitutes a local water. My two syndicates are a 45 minute drive away so probably ruled out on that basis. I am guessing some people travel a lot further than that so will be interesting if syndicates can open but you only have some of the members 'allowed' to fish

On the basis that the travel time should be less than the 'exercise' time unless you are driving for 49 hours, should be fine

Can't see the government making an exception for fishing sadly. They've consistently said that we are "all in this together" and I doubt they'll want to undermine that message and/or risk an uptick in people going out because they know anglers are doing it. I suspect people will be quite resentful that some groups of people have greater freedom than others.

I don't think they will make an exception for fishing alone but i do think they will relax certain outdoors activities, (sailing, Golf, fishing, walking in national parks, etc) from next week as long as they can be done safely and practicing social distancing, (which should be easily achievable if people are sensible).
The Government are acutely aware of the strain the lockdown will be putting on peoples mental health and if an outdoor pursuit can be done in relative isolation, (as fishing can be) then they should look to make it happen.

you would hope for that wouldn't you..
but the key thing is 'if people are sensible' - which of course they all aren't. hence the muppets causing fires by having barbeques on winter hill etc. ....
