Playing devil's advocate - I think the phrase 'some of the posts' is reasonable enough. 'Proper londoner' , 'caliphate' ... given previous on here its not an unfair comment - although being a 'Smith' is no guarantee of safe passage either at times 😀
The congestion problem is an issue. Ask tinhead about his friend and her very worthy campaign that has been mentioned on similar threads.
Some people could use their cars less and choose not to. Hence schemes like this that do emphasise the wealth divide in some green initiatives.
There's so much opposition to this that I can see a similar outcome to the Manchester CAZ proposal. A winding back on it in place of a requirement to meet some pollution reduction targets. Maybe that's the underlying plan all along.

A - my euro5 diesel that I do about 3 to 4k miles a year in
Or
B - a euro 6 petrol average car doing 10 to 15k miles a year?

Ps any car that is 40 years or older is automatically ulez exempt, them cars from days of zero emissions regs or fancy catalytic converters / DPFs etc

I live within the current ULEZ and can confirm it's a rip off pain in ****.
No fan of Khan at all. I remember back to his first election when he only had two pledges - to not raise Oyster card fees, and to plant 1m trees. He then went on to raise oyster fees in his second week of office. Been in office now for almost two full terms he's still not planted the trees. Slippery sod he is.

where I live he approved plans on the site of a demolished hotel to build 520 block of flats BUT just 120 car park spaces ? when questioned his answer was I want people to use public transport and not own cars luckily the council has objected and its all on hold

Statistically he is the worst mayor London has had i believe he's trying to push this through quickly before he runs for a third term because like I said before he has no manifesto to put the expansion through and will not get elected again if it's one of his pledges.

Depends on what you are measuring, CO or the NOx and particulates that diesels chuck out. Also diesels are even worse when cold - commuting around rush hour London won't get them warm.
You don't see many “mis-sold emissions” claims against petrol cars do you?

Every single policy UK and EU governments have been making the past decade and more seems to be centred around taking money out of the pockets of the middle class and transferring it into the pockets of the rich.
I'm convinced they are working on the basis that a poor electorate is a compliant electorate.

Why not stop calling it ULEZ and rename it pay to pollute. It would then get rid of all the misunderstanding and ensure that the poorer in London know their place.
These scummy Londoners can't afford to eat at The Ivy, or shop in Bond Street and now the grubby little oiks want to drive an old fiesta diesel to work as a carer, for some chubby old lady that wets herself. Charge them congestion, charge them for not having a Tesla and hopefully a little further down the line we can introduce a Primark tax if they persist in using this sweat shop based establishment over Harvey Nicks.

well looking at all the suggestions
none seem to compare but I think the one that comes close would be a 2016 or later Euro 6 Škoda octavia estate this seems to be the one with the biggest load capacity where my barrow should fit

One of my previous cars was a 2012 Octavia estate (4wd Scout), my mate had a Peugeot like yours at the same time. The Skoda was a far nicer car, and a great fishing wagon

I been to France fishing 17 times in it and a couple of times towing my caravan to Scotland been to Germany couple of times too plus a fair few 300 mile round trips to the Trent so done loads of millage and my 406 has been simply amazing so from what your saying the Octavia estate Euro 6 is the one I need to be looking for
