We re-skirted the whole 650 meters, three of us fitting a couple of 50m Rolls on a few Saturday mornings prior to setting up for the weekend session.
We don't have any electric to worry about, out-riggers at 4ft up stops them from climbing it – simple, cheap, reliable and pretty much maintenance free other than age related repairs.
~ There are a few other waters in the same locations as both our waters; they are being hammered with not having fences! I know the Club put in for permission to Fence a couple of them, but got refused by the council. Presume they must have shown the tall Tornado type or an Electrified Fence, when peoples posh gardens back onto one banking, I'm not surprised it was objected too.

Brand new scaffold tubes for us we thought they may fair up better than wooden posts, the gate was fully meshed.

Left of foreground pic, locked gate? i presume thats fully meshed? Personally, id put in a concrete foot pad the length of said gate about 2 ft deep and 2ft wide
Your main gate, is that a sleeper in the ground? if so, fine, but there appears to be a small gap on the left of sleeper against the upright post? I'd fill that in with concrete
your fence looks great, im not a massive believer in overhangs, most tend to have the wrong angle on them anyway, but can you add an electric wire?

This was early doors when we first started, the gate pictured ended up with a concrete pad underneath it and sleeper lay in front of it to the outside of the footing we did the full width a foot wide centered on the gate we also meshed the gate with 30x30mm mesh, by the time we had finished there is now an electric fence all the way around the perimeter 12" up from the ground with hotline gate handles at three gates we also ran a scare wire above the fence tensioned up between scaffold clips 50mm above the top of the fence with barbwire, (we may change this to electric this year) there were a few issues causing restrictions to what we could do, we would of liked an overhang but 170 mtrs of the lake on one side is on a tight country lane with local walkers and surrounded by the estates shoot, one of them would either catch it in their 4x4's or walk into one and gash themselves.
We had a bod from Angling Trust or EA cannot remember now my mate organised that, he came to inspect it afterwards and gave it his full seal of approval and said we had done a fantastic job and should we ever get breached he would have no qualms about a live trapping as we had done a very good job, his final comment was pleasing as he said at the end I normally carry a roll of tape and on a walk round tape areas of concern to look at re-visit, his passing remark was as you can see I haven't taped anywhere that he thought might be an issue.

well done mate, i wouldnt worry about overhangs, and unless your going to do it all, i defo wouldnt bother at all.
That would have either been Richard Bamforth or Jake from the AT who would have come out.

We also have no overhangs...and no problems..
My design is based on Alan Beats fence in Devon,who was given the details from a Scottish fish farmer ,who lost all his stock to predation from otters years ago..and thus designing a otter proof budget system..
What I do ,is I have got some white plumbers ,tap sealing tape ,stuff,and I, if I find any thing that needs doing I'll tear a bit of tape off and wrap on that area as a reminder,I keep the tape on a fir tree branch ,ready to go....
It's dark outside,and I'm off down two waters to check around,rivers local have been in spate so this is when I'm most vigilant...basically, I am not paranoid ,just fully aware that to sleep at night ,a fence needs regular checking,I'm not bothered about darkness or weather,I just go..

Ashmead hasnt had an over hang for 20 yrs...no issues
Ive not got and over hang, no issues...i actually openly tell people i help that overhangs arent a B and end all of protection. Not saying they don't help in anyway, but the cost doesnt out way the risk in my book. Alot of the angles are no where enough aggressive enough to make any difference what so ever.

Good info ,all true...and I know a fellow who gashed his head badly on a newly hung overhung fence ,a direct copy of the well known ones .but shorter build..
( just in from lake check,all ok,roads need a jetski ! )

its amazing how the ground recovers isnt mate.
I moan every spring the state of my field where the horses have smashed the ground to bits after the wet winter, it soon recovers once spring comes.

Thanks Joss, just beyond the ladder is part of the bund we built for the silt removal that runs the full length of that side of the lake about 150 meters , the 150 year old silt helped everything germinate and grow well.
It was a massive undertaking me and my mate who's pool it is spent months of weekends removing Laurel first all along that bank ready for the fence and machines to come in for the de-silt.
This pic shows the bund being constructed and you can see a small bit of Laurel left standing in the shot the whole of this bank was like this 30/40 meters deep into the wood, plenty in the wood shed drying out.

For the past 13 years since it's got really bad, all I hear is moaning every winter after someone's stock has just been mullered! (As the past few weeks, when are they going to learn?)

i hear it all the time mate...
everyone knows the danger, there's loads of help and information about these days regarding otters and fishery protection, sadly, some wait until its too late.
Re stocking is extremely expensive, YES, fencing isn't cheap, but with a shed load of graft, the rewards far out reach the heart ache in my book
