You all know the name of the lake I'm sure by now..
Its name is common knowledge if you are a regular visitor to France. It is also featured on at least three French "Where To Fish"-type websites, on one Dutch site and a further German one and there may be more, I didn't do a deep search.
If you know, you know, and if you don't know then find out by doing your research as John will have done and as most pioneering anglers will also have done.
Incidentally, it is my understanding that pike will not take to being caught too regularly, whereas carp often get caught several times a year and still come back to a hookbait. We had a pike down here in a Cornish ressy that went in at 32lb. The news quickly spread, and it was caught three or four times in fairly quick succession. It was later found dead, possibly as a result of the stress of the multiple captures.

exactly right
when in 2014 a huge fish came out in an enduro the world record 34,9 kg mirror carp, captured during an official fishing enduro competition in France and the public water was all over the place and its easy to see ? its laughable that its a secret ?
bit like Rainbow shall we keep that a secret as well or Cassien etc

In my opinion naming the lake is a complete lake of respect. If people know they know.
I live a few hours away and have fished it a lot. It's obviously not a secret lake but encouraging more foreign interest is only going to lead this venue down one route.
Last year alone saw more damage to anglers cars than any of the previous 3 I've fished it. Naming the venue and potentially encouraging anglers who aren't experienced with fishing venues with hostile locals is negligent in my book as the car damage etc is certainly rising.
Tight lines Dave

Ah, so someone who fishes said lake in France and wants to keep it a secret, finds it disrespectful when someone names the lake on an English fishing forum, and then blames them if your car gets done over??? I'm not sure I can find an emoji right now for the weird face I'm making

As good As this forum is I'd be fairly confident it's only a minor % of carpers visit or use it,I think naming it was more than ok.

Great film i really enjoyed it so much i watched it twice ,,well done JT . But ref nami g the location and having experienced a lake i fish in the uk being plastered all over youube by one of the most famous carp anglers in the county, it went from being very very quiet to a circus almost overnight and does cause a fair bit of resentment. towards the new anglers, who would never have heard or thought of the place and the angler that published the youtube film . So out of respect to the anglers fishing there , you just keep it quet..

I totally agree, no need to have named it.

Agree, if the guy making the film doesn't name it people should respect his choice

Exactly the word you chose, respect.
There is a distinct lack of it in today's Carp scene and I for one don't care for it at all.

I also agree to an extent
He fishes a public water, put the video on a public platform, then posted on a public forum like I said in my earlier post he or anyone for that matter should not post their video(s) ups if they don't want people to know where they are fishing.

And I agree with that to an extent 😁. Posted up on for all to see , keeping the name quiet seemed what he wanted , but surely people can't moan about anyone trying to track it down, as I did after the Korda video , it's in our makeup as carp anglers 😁. Then as someone names it , surely then people can't be surprised . Both examples were an obvious outcome once it was released , respect or not , it's the way things are .
