I think you could quickly come unstuck if you judge someone's carp fishing abilities by either what they wear, what tackle they use or how old they are.

I know guys half my age on my waters that out catch me every season. I also know guys who look like tramps with battered gear that rip waters apart.

There's a fairly new member on one of my waters. Personality wise I really like him, he always chats, he's polite and he's a dedicated big fish angler who puts in the nights, even in winter. His nickname is ‘love island' cos he wears cut off tops in summer and his hairs immaculate etc. Guess who caught the biggest fish in the lake on his first season, love island, so the jokes on us really isn't it.

The phrase don't judge a book by its cover is spot on and I'm surprised a guy with your level of experience hasn't realised that yet.

By the way I'm 47 and have a ridgemonkey stove.

Most of them meet the criteria I described .
That's not 100% everybody but the bulk of the wannabes do qualify .

I'm 60 and yes I've been round the block since 78 and before that match fished , trout fished , boat fished and beach fished .
The reason for my disdain is probably my age as us more mature gents don't like change 😔

Perhaps when you reach old git status then your outlook will change also 🤔
The post was meant to be a lighthearted piss take but with everything these days most have had a sense of humour bypass .

And yes I have given up carping as it's just not my scene anymore and have reached Meldrew status 🤭

When I was reading up on the howling moon tent a lot of forums mentioned that it was very similar to the oz tent which had a world wide patent on the frame so if it's true then RM will more than likely be sued for their framed tent as it looks identical to the oz frame.

I remember when the only shelter allowed on lakes was just a brolly and later an overwrap as it was considered camping ⛺️ and not fishing .
In Holland in the early 80,s it was a brolly based shelter and nothing else .

I haven't seen this new one go up yet, so there's probably differences. Chris manifold talked about how he couldn't patent the Armadillo. Nothing to do with this but quite interesting.

They have reverted back to that on all public waters now I believe. No groundsheets allowed either.

On the OP, what people do with their hard earned is up to them. If someone wants one and can afford it, good luck to them I say..

Blimey. A compact bivvy that weighs 30kg?? Is that definitely correct? That seems outrageous. Don't they say in the video that it's aimed at guys who fish overnighters. No ones gonna lug 30kg around for one night.
