Haha....I was probably lying on my SS4. Thinking F##k me this is bloody uncomfortable. It sags like my nanna's tits, draftier than windy castle & gives me back ache trying to manoeuvre the bloody thing. ...now where's the dog sh1t emoji.

I have a compact size Trakker ELS for one/two nights and a standard size ELS for anything longer they have been by far the best beds I have ever owned, not the lightest bed even in the compact but weight over comfort is something I wouldn't sacrifice especially as I'm getting older, coupled with the Trakker layers 2 to 4 season bag I have which under the 4 season layer is the warmest I have been in any bag I've owned during the Winter never once woke up cold/feeling cold, my feet are the biggest problem I have always changed socks for bed but once there cold I'm done even hot water bottles in the past have never helped last winter or this one I haven't even had a need to get the hot water bottle out.

I had the SS3 when it first launched prior to the shroud being developed when it had the mesh webbing under the mattress, first cold night was the last time I used it and it wasn't even Winter just a cold draft blowing in the door I felt like I was in a sky diving simulator then Nash put out the shroud and wanted the punters to pay the price for it for one of their extensively trialed products

Gerry, would one of these mats work with a sleep system bed? As in do you think there would be enough room to still zip the bag on?

Each to there own on this one, I have lower back pain and find the wychwood tactical x with a sim perfect for me, I have an ancient trakker peachskin bag, keeps me warm in all weathers, decent base layer essential in winter.

This is a very individual choice, lots of different opinions and as usual Nash take a pasting on here. Can't argue about weight, size, comfort or design. We all make our choices. However the 5 season sleep system on the indulgences cannot be described as cold or draughty. That is simply not true.

I've got the exact same mat and it fits under the sleeping bag on my Fox Duralite fine. No issues zipping the bag back on at all

Used a Thermo rest for 20 years didn't feel the need after getting an Avid Bedchair. May get one again one day as they are good.

for me I have a wychwood tactical standard bedchair,sim and gardner Carp duvet compact.
I took the sim off for a couple of sessions on my last 2 sessions as I wanted to see what/if any difference it made....ive put it back on today. I slept OK on the 2 sessions I had without it but its so much more comfy with it on.

After a

-Sonik Levelbed (decent for his price)
- Nash Mf60 (couldn't stay on the mattress for 5 minutes)
-Solar Sp (to firm for me)
-Fox duaralite (no single leg lock, matras was good but i think the quality is not that good for his price)
- Solar Ch08 (found it better then the Sp range

i ended up with a: Trakker levelite oval tail, there is absolutely no need for a sim on this bed.


I hope one day that Ridgemonkey will come out with an adult bed, my son's Rm junior bed mattress is so good to lay on and the bedchair build is top quality.

Anyone know roughly how much paracord you would need for a bedchair?

Depends on what sections you want to cord, but 6m max will be fine

Can be yes , I've done the whole of mine using 6mm cord
