to be fair to Terry he told me about the shimano tx2s way before word got out and when he was sponsored by Harrison I think it was....I messaged him over a xmas period when a voucher code went live on ebay for 20% off and he replied pretty promptly and said buy them,he went on to say he had been launching leads a long way with them and for the price I paid after discount I think it was about £45 a rod so I bought three on his recommendation.

Other than he's never recommended anything that is shyte. Which goes to show that there's a lot of good stuff out there by lots of different companies and it's the person using it that really makes the difference.
Same could be said for so many things!

I got the 12ft 3.25 as an all rounder while I was having a 3rd torrix built to match my other 2...Great rods, I didn't need them for out and out casting as I'm a **** caster anyway but for what I paid before all the hype about them they were great...I actually sold them for more than what I paid for them a couple of years ago

Would 12lb ESP Syncro XT be adequate straight through or would I need a leader?

Leader mate. Be ok with around 3-4oz lead upto 120 yards but wouldn't want to push it anymore for safety reasons

15lb syncro is a lot more capable of dealing with the Load. But will naturally restrict you casting.
How far you looking to cast ? And are leaders banned

Around 150 Yards.
Leaders banned which is not ideal, My only other option would be a tapered line.
Was hoping 12lb would be sufficient.

One thing I will say, what works for one person does not work for everyone.
I have a mate who gets on well with ESP line, I don't, (I cant get a tidy knot), he doesn't get on with my choice of Gardner Pro, he finds it goes crinkly on his reels (Shimano BBLC's).
