I think they put limits on drinks first....was never going to work , and it didn't, and there was a real problem with litter (beercans).
Club got sick of it.

DDAPS did indeed bring in a booze ban and from what I'm told most of it was because of the behaviour of the baillifs! Hasn't stopped people trying to have a sneaky beer, getting caught, then getting banned for life though.

Dave Lane, Rod Hutchinson and many other well known anglers wouldn't have got much fishing. Their books are full of tales of falling down/passing out drunk while fishing on a daily/weekly basis. I Like waters with no booze. What's harmless fun to a bunch of noisy pissed up tossers is a bloody nuisance to everyone else. How much fishing has been lost?)

Yep, as I said it was noticed at Ruxley and Laddingford. Bailiffs having to go round at silly oclock to tell people to reign in it.

I'm out on the bank at minute and got ‘flick of a tail' & fox pool with me and they are full of drinking and curry nights or BBQ's as they fished,not into it myself li like the peace & quiet myself and no hassle with anyone that's why I'm on a massive stretch of canal right this minute(14 miles plus between locks).

Carp fishing used to be about enjoying outdoors, having a laugh with mates, few drinks and some banter all this while still catching a few... or not... Now it is about insta photos, catching 37 units in one afternoon, 42 wraps and 25% cheaper boilies to sponsored anglers... Cant imagine not having a nice cold beer while sun sets on a hot summer evening or a nice irish coffe on a cold misty morning...

Back in the 90's I was fishing a nice mature gravel pit on an Essex club ticket. Initially to be eligible for nights you had to have a winter ticket..Fine..no probs. Did that and had a nice calm season of days and nights.Then the club wanted more income.. Advertised for more members and created a 'night syndi'. Oh dear... went downhill rapidly IMO ..noise at nights,lights ,too much alcohol and herb during the hours of darkness, unattended rods...the list goes on.needless to say i got out and went elsewhere. This is definately not a new problem, but Im guessing clubs have been trying to delay the inevitable .
My current club allows days/nights on the ticket at present but are not afraid to moan about lack of interest in fund raisers and subsequent lack of income.For the last couple of years we have been threatened with an increase in book price if this trend of disinterest continues...Again im guessing it wont be long before they implement a two tier ticket..

I know what club you are talking about and it was the correct decision to make.
The night tickets were on sale to everyone today so hopefully you managed to get one before they sold out

Working 9-5 sort of scuppered that plan 😩 what will happen, if I decide to fish, the night anglers will start complaining that the day anglers are there too late and they dont have time to set up

I'm a very simple man to please, just wanted a local ticket where I could fish overnight, cant get much simpler than that 😂
