As you can see I'm on a platform but it's a very wet day.
The ground behind the platform is like the Somme on a bad day. Trying to get to and from with the gear is/was a nightmare. Yep I did end up on my knees in the sh1te.
Actually a few sheets of bog roll later and sanity is restored.

There's still a groundsheet in shot, which is glamping as far as I'm concerned

Fishing on a platform with gaps in it without a groundsheet is not a nice experience.
That's before your car keys fall out of your pocket inside the bivvy and they slip through a gap and you hear that horrible plop sound.
AA/RAC don't like coming out to a non address, just a grid reference in the middle of nowhere, then try and convince them to hotwire it so you can get home. Then pay a £150+ for a new coded key.
I'll stick to using a groundsheet thanks

I never had a barrow I could do a weekend and carry everything I needed but now !!!!!!!!!!!
I want the comfort catching is not that important anymore and I never EVER fish without using a groundsheet unless Im just there for the day
and often I take the hook link off and chuck out so I can get some undisturbed sleep

I can see why people are bothered by you using a groundsheet. I imagine they are much more manly than you, and nothing impresses the birds on a night out more than fishing without a ground sheet.
Why is it now considered ‘uncool' to be comfortable?
I mean it doesn't effect me though. I just sleep naked in the mud, don't even use rods, I just jump in the lake with a net. None of this comfort rubbish for me. I'm a geezer
