@post 30- that's sort of the idea. They earn their money by thrashing out a compromise that the population benefit from rather than party donors or risk losing their jobs. The finer details might take a while, it's usually something I only contemplate while intoxicated

I don't despise Communism, I say it doesn't work, find me the sentence where I say I despise Communism
COMMUNISM A theory or system of social organisation in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs
COMMUNITY A group of people living together and practising common ownership
Kind of similar in a basic sense and I did say to Mal I do know what you mean so please Ocelot don't let's get started again as I have no wish to get into a debate with you, clearly you and I disagree to a great extent so let's just leave it there as I would much prefer to have a sensible debate in person rather than keyboard warrior to and fro-ing

As for community, I'll tell you what kind of community I like and that's the one where we all came out at 2000 on a Thursday night to clap for carers when the press were full of admiration for the population reporting how kind we had all become to each other with neighbours helping neighbours........and then a black man was killed by the police in the USA and everything changed back to us vs them, me vs you, black vs White, left vs right.......what a mess!

Just an idea....
I think what I'm getting at with community is the sense of 'if I have more then I will help those who have less, or at least not begrudge them that help from others if it is truly needed.
Which isn't communism, and is not capitalism. However.... it's probably a stretch for most supposedly civilised countries....

Funny old world, two extremes for me, communism and the democratic world of greed and waste
I went to Cuba a few years ago, not nice to see if I'm honest. Used to chat to the hotel staff as you do, I thought they were on theirs arses due to trade embargoes, no the government. Nobody had a good word for them. I stayed in an iberostar hotel. The government charged them around £1500 per month per employee and then paid the employees absolute peanuts whilst the minority in charge where living in luxury. Was talking to a Gardner, he had qualified as a doctor, everybody can get a good education but then they can't use it, lack of opportunities and the pay structure is kind of flat so they put all that effort in for virtually nothing. Went to Havana for a couple of nights, the poverty is unreal, again, not nice to see. Exploiting people really to the highest level. Think yourself lucky we live in our country. When you see the other side you know how lucky we are. We take a lot of stuff for granted sadly

It's like I said Mal, there was a lot of that about at the beginning of Lockdown ( apart from the panic buying ) but sadly it evaporated with peoples's consciences in no time at all, it might yet come back but I agree with you on that, if everyone helped out someone less fortunate than them then the world would be a better place but it doesn't take too much for people to go back to me me me mode👎

Communism has never existed , closest we have seen it is Cuba , but america made sure it could not succeed ,
However , you should look up democratic socialism , the countries that have managed it are now the best countries in the world to live with regard to standard of living , health care , wages and pensions , their schools are also leading the way , and they are the least corrupt politically ! their systems are built on a capitalist system with state ownership of certain things usually , health care , post , gas ,electric etc , railways ! of course it is not perfect , no system is ,and there is a perpetual fight against corruption , one we are loosing at the moment in the uk ! it is possible and over the next few years as people become more aware of it as they analyze their plights it could be possible !

Agreed.
And it's a shame because it's so easy to do on a daily basis.
I lived in London for 12 years or so and would always try and pass my travel card on to someone after my final journey of the day. You'd think I was trying to French kiss their gran from some of the reactions I got from people!
And I hate those car parks where you have to put your number plate details into the machine so that you cant pass on to others.

Commulism's the future for many, it's the way China and Russia, Vietnam etc have changed from failed communist systems and is a real danger to democracy. Some of the authoritarians on here might like it I suppose.
