I see, what confused me was in post #21 you said Halfcentury and myself both lay our spools on the side

Some lines definitely are. I've had 2 spools burst the lip off after soaking certain lines overnight before spooling them up. Only ever plastic spools though.

Thanks for clearing that up I thought I was going nuts for a mo

@ post#41 that is a pic of my actual set up when doing mono, with braid I do away with the pencil and the milk carton and just lay the spool in the bait box
