I saw something from a virologist last night that suggested Covid-19 has already mutated twice. Firstly in order for it to be passed between humans and secondly into a different strain of the virus... hence why some people get mild symptoms and some get it a hell of a lot worse. The same guy suggested that it would, of course mutate again so god knows what that could mean

Swainy, you are getting stick for saying you'll go fishing regardless... not to work. Work “might” be seen as essential, fishing is not. How hard is it to stay in for the sake of peoples lives?!

I am employed and have been told to work from home...my wife is recovering from it and I have just got over a mild form of it. I intend to stay isolated for for further 14 days at least just in case. Doesn't matter if I'm employed or self employed as I don't want to risk some poor bigger dying. Seeing what my wife went through for the last 2 weeks makes me realise how serious this can be, not just for the vulnerable either.
I could go fishing every weekend now but I choose not to as its irresponsible and outs others at risk.

I never said every weekend at all. I do around 3/4 nights a month. And how I live my life as **** all to do with anyone on here. You all seem to think your hero's. I bet all of you giving me grief on here have all been out over the weekend.

I've noticed the language around the deaths is quite careful. The don't ever say that someone with underlying conditions died of coronavirus. They say that someone has died who was confirmed to be infected with covid19. A subtle difference but I wonder how many of these people were already in the final stages of life anyway before infection. So if the predicted 20000 deaths. Is that twenty thousand deaths above the actual number that would have died anyway or 20000 deaths including those that would have died? That has a baring on how deadly this actually is in the general population.

Explain to me what's laughable about what I've put? I've asked a simple enough question about how the statistics are collected. For clarity.
Perhaps you'd like to call up the medical lady who appeared With borris today and tell her she's laughable as well, as she was raising this exact point about skewed statistics when comparing to other outbreaks and how other countries count their infections etc. But obviously she doesn't know quite as much about it as you does she.

In my job we have had to close the restaurant, bar and spa, although at the moment the hotel and golf course is still open. If the hotel gets closed, as it is likely to, there will still need to be a skeleton staff day and night to keep maintenance and security. So from 100 odd staff, there will be 10-12 who have to stay on, the rest will be put on furlough.
I feel for the owners having to work out who!
I know Anglian Water have shut all their fisheries and country parks, which puts my self isolation on my holiday up the creek as I had planned on fishing. It also increases my risk if I have to stay at home as I would then need to mix with people when I need to top up my gas and electric cards at the local shops, compared to using no energy while fishing.
One thing though, the government has said that to go into second home on the coast is non essential travel, so may stop a few pulling a fast one.

This virus is a nightmare, but if you are a linear carp its heaven. The rest these fish are getting is much needed when the lakes are constantly hammered
