I'm quite pleased reading a lot of these remarks as I just thought it was me that had changed and fallen out of love with the mag. I've bought maybe half a dozen issues since Martin Ford's reign and have never finished reading a single one.

Doubt it very much, t'internet has killed magazine publishing! Maylins mags are Free online now, Carptalk has gone....really only Total Carp and Carpology left. Carpology are giving so much stuff away with subscriptions now( over 100 quids worth recently) that they probably will go under fairly soon unfortunately! I just need to get a refund for my subscription to Carpworld.......fat chance of that I think.

Good Old days the Magazines i've got loads of Carp Mags dating back to the 1990s in my storage room. Old CarpTalks, Carpworlds, Advanced Carp you name them there in these bags.

I don't think it was Martin's fault particularly as it didn't get any better under the chap that followed him, the main problem was that no one was ever going to do it like Tim Paisley, simple really.

I agree Chuffy, there was still plenty of decent stuff in Carpworld under Martin Ford.
Tim was a, very hard act to follow though.....the carp scene's very own Alex Ferguson.

I remember buying my first copy of Carpworld. Number 33, must have been very early 90s. Purchased every copy for the next 20 years and read them all cover to cover. The syndicate series was excellent! I wouldn't be surprised if someone took over and brought it back, but it will always be Tim Paisleys, Carpworld.

I think Tim P stepping down was a factor but also Facebook and the rise of on line forums were a contributory factor.
It's also interesting that a number of really good carp /fishing forums have fallen by the way too.
Cemax and fishing warehouse to name a couple.
As I'm from "tup North" Cemax wasn't my first choice but fishing warehouse was always my first website I'd go to, I spent many hours posting and reading the comments on their.
I don't know why those to website forums shrank?
It's good to see this site seems to be returning to a busier one.

Your right there Mike, I had 15 links to Carp related forums in the links section on my Web site - did a quick check last year and 14 were now defunct!
I think the demise of forums and Mags has a lot to do with repetitive "Bull S###", you can only read it for so long or look at it so much. They used to get away with it before social media, WhatsApp etc... not so easy now.
Mags problem was the advertisers got to the point where they was dictating what a Mag could put in it pages, and if the Mag did not agree with something, tuff - print it or we won't advertise with you.

It's good to see this forum going strong but you will get people moaning that it's too difficult to use and needs to be modernised. I reckon that would be a mistake the best posts on here are by people who make the effort to write good posts. If you made it like Facebook for instance it will get watered down by 'likes' and filled up with those stupid signs or those silly short clips that go on for ever on a loop

There was some great contributors, topics and posts on Cemex / anglers forum, but I found as good as it was, It become a victim of elitism bulls**t and got too up itself, Yateley this and that. Anything else wasn't cool with the regulars..
Different theories or opinions were nearly thought to be totally wrong. Couldn't play sensibly and always got out of hand and too personal and topics locked.
Then the Trojan horse bug didn't help it either.
There is a lot of great contributors and materials out there amongst us, the trick is to use it fairly and sensibly, without disclosing too many personal edges if you have a business interest, in a manner that appeals and interests to all, gets people's thinking, loving the hobby/sport for what is is, without getting OTT

Hopefully they'll all be gone soon. We're at a point where media content can be instant, interactive, isn't a drain on the planet's resources, has a smaller carbon footprint and doesn't come wrapped in bloody plastic.
People want to read stories of myth and mystery but on such a small Island with people trying to catch carp for 50 odd years by design, you're always stirring some other fellas porridge.
Or they want to read about somewhere other than the day tickets, only you can't because the places worth reading about don't want advert man to rope off the lake.
Anyone genuinely interesting would be better off telling it in a book, and they generally do

The biggest problem for the magazines these day's is the newer trainer and gangster bling clad carper has a very low ability when it comes to reading.
