This time of year it's Grayling and Pike fishing for me, and I walk miles and miles of river banks in pursuit of them.
On a private stretch with zero public access - fishing dawn till dusk just over a week ago, spoke to one person all day (Another member) But the opposite bank which has a public walkway along it - literally 100's of the general public out walking.
What's the problem

I agree, clear as mud, but if you read through the Government guidance, you will see that local is defined as your local area, which is your district council. Just tap in your postcode and then the post code of where you plan to fish, if they are in the same area, you are OK. For example, I am in Uttlesford and thankfully, that encompasses both my primary syndicate water and several club waters. Happy days. Couldn't give a stuff about no night fishing, in many ways that's a good thing - meaning less pressure on the fish and a level playing field every day. Will people follow the rules? Absolutely fecking not based on what I've seen over the last 9 months of this ****...

What a result I just need to check if my local club is going to open if not a few hours lure fishing on the river will do .

Probably means same County that you live in. I think most commercial fisheries and fishing clubs will decide to remain closed, but I could be wrong.

The government are using specific language with not too much ambiguity. Best to check your water and find out really.
What I will say is it's a bit unfair in a sense of say you live in a small village and compare that to London for instance.

It's all a bit daft.... I live half a mile in a county that is X district council, I travel into a neighbouring county every day for work which is the same postcode as home, but different council. It also contains my syndicate where we are allowed to fish. Same postcode. So am I really going to drive away from my venue which is ten minutes from work into a different (my home) district to fish, which would be a journey of about twenty miles, or just carry on fishing my peaceful venue, on my way home from work, where I won't see a soul but apparently breaking some made up geographical law and surely bound to wipe out the global population because I want to fish for a few hours after grafting all day. Mind you, from what I've read on the internet over the last few days it wouldn't be an entirely bad thing if the global population was wiped out... No wonder people are confused and arguing.
Explaining the above to any police officer would result in them being as bored as I am writing it. I'll be told to stay safe and be on my way. Just be sensible, don't be a dick and be nice. The amount of anglers taking the moral high ground, preaching to strangers with no knowledge or understanding of their circumstances over the last few days has been terrible. Humanity really has shown it's true colours and sheer lack of brain cells. Any sign of open mindedness, free thinking or rational judgement has been shot down by self appointed conformist legends in their own lunch break. It's really sad.

Agree Keith, are you a Settle Angler? I've an S&DAA ticket for on the river this winter but it's out of my area so can't use it. Got a couple of Cheshire river tickets that are local so glad I can use those this winter for predators

Personally while the below is happening at my local hospital where my wife works I won't be breaking lockdown to go fishing, permission or not.
