Ultimately, we're all (ten of us, four households) going to do a lateral flow test because my grandparents in their 80's are coming. We can't be any more sensible than that, if they say we all can't meet then ******** to it, we're not cancelling it again.

**** them,did they stick to it last year.We were all sticking to 2m social distancing and not seeing our families and friends.They were partying playing quiz's,oh and hanging out the back of their personal assistants

My sentiments also, but as much as we all would like to stick 2 fingers up at them, the measures will have come from the scientific advisors, now whatever you may think of them, these people know their onions, and should be listened to. The majority of people will be meeting family and friends on Christmas day, of by the slimmest possibilities that it gets cancelled then like most I will take it on the chin as I'm an adult

You can do whatever you want,that's your choice.I certainly won't be doing what they say as I have stuck to the guidelines throughout.I have had enough now and trust our scientists
why the **** would I do that,Whittey is saying we can't listen to South Africa scientists even though they have more experience with Omicron than ours.Get two jabs and we will all be ok oh wait no we won't,get a booster that will solve it.Will it really,I don't think so at all

Andy, it's commendable and I totally respect your decision, my personal circumstances are: I work In London and the south east meeting hundreds of people a week, my mum is a teacher working in a huge London college, my sister is a high school teacher and my grandparents are in their 80's, they're not getting any younger. We're all allowed to work next Friday, yet come next Saturday, we're possibly not allowed to meet in a residential setting.
We listened last year whilst those telling us what to do did the opposite. We'll all test and hopefully all be ok to carry on but essentially; we're being sensible, not reckless so pose no threat. ******** to that slippery **** Boris and whatever he says.

So, the way I see it is, if the government decided to lock us down over Christmas and I ignored the rules, had family over and gave my parents, or grandparents covid which went on to kill them, I'm not sure how I'd cope with that guilt.
Obviously I could give them covid at any point, but to do so after being told not to mix, I'm not sure how I'd cope with that, your call really at the end of the day

We've got the grandkids coming around we're all being sensible and all will do flow tests.
I'm only half a century more or less so quite a few years left in the tank 😀

It could be anyones last Christmas, you could walk across the road tomorrow and get hit by a truck, but if I made it someones last Christmas, when told to follow the rules then frankly I'd be devastated.

You can understand that thinking - I wish I'd been able to spend what was her last Christmas with my mam last year. but ... hindsight and all that.
I guess the argument that you 'could get hit by a bus tomorrow ' applies - although it doesn't usually prompt people to start leaping into the road in front of oncoming number 23s ..
As said - I'm not doing any of this for Boris and Co. And I'm also not going to stop doing it to spite them either.
