That's why I say if there's nothing wrong with the ones he's got, apart from 'showing their age' keep them. Otherwise it's an ongoing case of replacing rods every few years.

Having said that I'll buy the old ones for a fiver each

That's what I thought, you ain't getting a new car on the Mobility Scheme stating your a 10ft dwarf are you.

There was a lot of glowing reviews for the sonik insurgents. I picked up a pair of extractor pro's in 9ft 2.75lb with 40mm rings from TFT for £49.99 a pop. From my understanding they're near identical, but the carbon comes from a different manufacturer.

I think most would be over the moon with what I received for the price, but out of the retractables that I've tried the insurgents would still reign supreme.

Sadly, I prefer my rods to have a softer action, so while they might be excellent rods, I'm not sure how much use they'll get. For me personally, the king of 10ft rods are still the old TFG compacts. No dwarf, scope, extractor, or insurgent has come close to beating how they bend

That's the longest post talking about rods that never mentions a company that actually makes rod's 👍
