Oh give over Gerry of course there the same, one of the reasons I replied using the word ARC. We addressed interpreting the raw data before. I also said the arc and by inference the fish icon can also be accurate and it can FACT, especially in winter when there's little to interfere with the actual fish. Naturally in spring/summer there are a lot of factors that can affect the transducers return signal but that doesn't mean it's as useless as a chocolate tea pot, as some have made out.
The return from the winter shoaling fish I mentioned before on the cheap Horizon fish finder did have the fish icon and true to the shoal it showed lots of little fish icons, though I doubt they represented individual fish, it also showed a larger fish symbol at the base of a buoys chain anchor, which again was accurate.
If folk want to take all doubt out of the equation don't buy Chirp, get Dragonfly, then you can watch your lead and bait land on the inch square you wanted, keep your boat there and you can even watch the Carp hook itself, fill your boots

PLEASE dont tell me about the capabilities of the Deeper
I have spent hundreds if not thousands of hours over 30 odd years of owning and using offshore fishing boats starting out with the sonar that used just register depth the Seafarer spinning echo sounder then progressed to the Eagle paper sounder then along came solid state sealed Furuno and Lowrance Humming bird , Garmin I have owned and used all of these selling and upgrading as newer models came out then got rid of my boats marina fees were getting crazy so stopped Sea fishing
and concentrating back again to Carp fishing I started using bait boats and inflatables with a Garmin Fishfinder on it in my Europe Carping and tried a deeper on the baitboat I have been out in my Inflatable with an Aquascope my bait boat with deeper tied to the boat seeing what the thing is telling me in cold and hot times of the year (as we all know location is key especially of huge lakes)
seeing drifting over some really big carp and Sturgeon and the deeper not picking them up at all and other cases where is saying fish and there was sod all but it certainly does pick out depths holes in weed and hard and soft bottoms
so I stand by my statement as a fish finder the Deeper is not worth a toss ! full stop and **** the temp

I will talk to you about the qualities of the Deeper Gerry as I have quite a bit of experience if it.
I didn't see the need to state all my history of using fish finders as it wasn't and isn't relevant but sering as your trying to use it to infer greater experience (which is true) I will.
You do have greater all round knowledge especially re sea fishing, I knew that. My history goes back to the late 90's, think it was a fish eagle on my inflatable, 2 or 3 trips a year to Europe, so I'm no novice. As you'll probably know from my previous posts I also had a RT4 with Chirp and mapping. I know the limitations of Chirp but there are plus sides, as shown in the Carplounge vids.
None of that means either of us should be having a pop, quotes like useless don't really help anyone and it's less than subjective for those reading these posts
