Wow, that's certainly further than I'm getting it, mono in the same diameter is fairly straight forward at that distance but I'm struggling to get that distance with the avid braid and a 4.25 lead. I've found it to be the best so far though, I'll try the nash baseline next

The avid braid does cast a lot better than the current thinking anglers braid but i do think ta are bringing out a thinner one.
Ive been using the avid braid but until recently hadnt tried fishing over 100yds i initially struggled as the braid had bedded in on itself at around the 100yd mark and was tight to pull off the spool but after peeling a bit more off was easily getting 120 with 3 1/4 rod and 3.5 oz lead

The new TA braid is still going to be the same thickness as Gardner noir, so around the 0.40 mark, the original TA stuff is 0.49 as measured by the tackle box which seems to be about the most accurate data sheet I can find.
I'm due some of the new TA braid as soon as it's in stock, the next week weeks
I believe so will pass on my thoughts once I've had some off them and put it on my spools to replace the battered noir on them currently

Have had this happen a few times on our yearly trips ,like you say when theres colour & lot of suspended particles in water , tried everything ( using hydrosink) you think youve sunk it & an hour later its all floating on the surface again , have had to swop all rods back to mono , seem to remember watching a dave lane video where he say theres nothing you can do about it , unless anyone knows any different ?

Has anyone tried applying Xink to their lines, braid or mono? It is a liquid fly sinkant, but also used on leaders to help them sink.

I thought about this aswell, I think it works similar to a detergent by reducing surface tension, it doesn't make it any heavier so to speak but it could help with the tricky bit of getting it just under the surface at the beginning. So it could help a slow sinker like 832 to become a bit more user friendly

I thought it worked in the same way but after reading the blurb I'm not so sure. It's described as "wetter than water". Their floatant version (Gink) has a specific gravity of 0.77, so was hoping that Xink would work in the opposite way, ie having a SG of over 1.0. If this was the case it should soak into braid helping it sink. May cut down casting distance though.

I'm thinking about trying something else - Has anyone tried the following and can comment on how well they cast?

I have both the sbx in 25lb and the avid outline braid also.
Avid wins for casting hands down. Far smoother, thinner, everything about it lends itself to be a better casting line. Sinks ok, thinking anglers stuff is really nice also, sinks far better, casts well, but if you were looking at maximising I'd go down the avid route. I have 2 lots of 4 spools so use both now on the bigger pit I've been fishing, mainly the sbx unless I want to go over 120 yards, then the avid stuff comes out.

Don't take stated braid diameters as gospel...
I got some china braid, stated diameter of 0.286, but seemed quite thick on the spools.
Measured it with a micrometer and it was 0.35...
Some of the variations on the tackle box line tests are very noticeable.

It is thin, but I would say it's not 45lb breaking strain. Ive been using it since it came out. You have to wet it up first or it is a bugger to sink, wind drifts bad it it's floating.
Its now gray in colour which happened very quickly. I use fluro leaders so not end of world for my style of fishing but it is very visible.
Just waiting for tackle box to do tests
