Agree, it's the only realistic way. I did that and got Carp Life 1 by Mike Wilmott and Nigel Sharps books for what I deemed to be good prices after previously bidding and refusing to pay the higher price they went for at the time. Still waiting on a copy of Micky Grays 1st book at a price I am willing to pay, but not going to just pay an asking price, so patience is definitely the key and knowing your upper budget and sticking to it. You'll often get lucky eventually
