Nope, dont hate anything or anyone. just amazes me that people still buy them over the numerous other cheaper options on the market, and expect them to be smooth and quiet, and convince themselves that they are the best reel ever made

Sorry if I'm being thick but by the grommet are you referring to the rubber thing that sits on the side of the spool that goes up and down. Is that what we're saying is squeaking?

Don't think anyone says its the best reel ever made; its is however one of the most reliable / easy to use / effective for general carp fishing - the fact that Daiwa have continued to manufacture and sell it could be a clue; the market is not 'only' based on old skool wannabes and nostalgic types who bought them on first release . . .

yes mate. the noise comes from it moving up and down the metal shaft it lives on. little dab of grease and it'll shut up for a while
