I actually found DHL to be pretty good until an incident last year.

They had an IT meltdown and vanished up their own ********s. I had paid to send a parcel out but it descended into a farce. They wouldn't communicate at all, changed trakking numbers at random but didn't tell anyone. I the end the intended recipient of my parcel got a msg stating it was on its way and noticed it had a different trakking number. He txt me to let me know. DHL still weren't talking to me (I'm the bloke that had paid for postage so therefore the person they had the contract with). After waiting for days I rattled their cage. I got a standard useless mail that told me nothing so I sent them this

Good afternoon Dxxx,

Yes you are correct, the receiving customer has now got the parcel, but 8 days later on a 24hour service!

I ordered the service on Sunday for pick up Monday and 24hr for delivery on Tuesday. The courier did not pick up the parcel on the Monday. Monday evening I received a mail from you stating there had been an IT glitch and you would resolve soonest. This was the last I heard from you- total silence from then onwards.

Tuesday and Wednesday the parcel still sat here, no communication from you and the Trakker said it had been picked up and was “somewhere in the system! ( even though it was still in my hallway). My customer started to think it was a scam or fraudulent transaction and started to get upset.

On the Thursday ( 5 days in) my customer rang me to say that he noticed he had notification that it was now on its way but the trakking number had changed! He gave me the number ( note you hadn't informed me) and I checked it and it seemed to be current. Only by my customer telling me of the change of number tipped me off to change the label - absolutely no communication from you.

At this stage I had no idea when the parcel would be picked up so had to stay in the house. A courier finally arrived and picked it up. Note that if my customer had not informed me of the change I would have sent it with the old label and it would have gotten truly lost!

By now we were just going into the Bank Holiday so the parcel was stuck until the following week.

Ok I can accept than parcels can get delayed. OK I can accept that IT glitches can happen. What I can't accept is the total lack of communication on your part, especially as you decided to change the trakking number. I can't accept that there was no warning of intention of timing to pick up parcel. I can't accept that you never hit your very iffy 3 day reply window to a raised case ( 6 days and only because I rattled your cage). I can't accept that myself and a customer had to txt each other with details of pickup and delivery. We did all the work for you other than driving the van!

In short ,as a customer experience, this is an object lesson in exactly how NOT to treat a customer. 8 days for a 24hr service, absolutely no communication, ignoring raised cases, and to be quite frank offering an insulting 50% discount IF I use you again. I have been a good customer of DHL, choosing to pay the extra for a company that has salaried, liveried, drivers and what was a reliable service rather than using zero hours contacted self employed odds n sods like Yodel or Hermes(Ervi). At this moment however the likes of Yodel and Hermes are leaving you lot standing with their far superior service.

I note you still took my money for 24hr delivery.

Rgds

Sent from my iPad

They sent me a wish washy reply which didn't really address any of my concerns but they did give me my full amount back so it was a financial win but I don't think they learnt anything from the cluster ****.

Next time I used UPS via Parcel Hero as per my earlier post. Even worse cluster ****.

I don't think there's such a thing as a good courier in UK. 👎

Here we are , parcel sent "next day delivery" on August 5 in Sheffield......deliver to Arundel in Sussex......NEver arrived as Evri couldnt be bothered to deliver......3 days later it turned up in SHEFFIELD.......Mother in law was on holiday, so when she came home took it to Post Office, once again paid for " next day delivery", guess what ? never arrived, she went to Post Office and lo and behold it was still there as THEY^ DIDNT HAVE A DRIVER DUE TO COVID......They then managed to get it to Ipswich, 15 miles from delivery address and its still there, all lonely and sitting in the depot....God knows when it will be delivered

Twice paid for NDD and twice its not been delivered (maybe they thought it was next month delivery).......so avoid EVRI and Royal Mail Parcelforce (Parcelfarce)
Dont Know if i will ever see the stuff in the parcel......now to try and talk to Parcelfarce for a refund

Fed ex is another bad one,I ordered 2 x Harrison torrix cost me near enough £500 from tackle box, then I got a miss call from a mobile number so called back turns out fed ex delivered my rods to another street about 3/4 mile away this was a crescent not a street different post code to mine but first lane of my street was Same,eg:17 smith street(mine) 17 smith crescent(other address).
Luckily I rang him back and he said he'd got my number off parcel and he was going out and left it with a neighbour so I had to leave work and me and my brother went to collect it which luckily by car it's 5 mins and the neighbour gladly gave it me when I knocked on his door, fed ex didn't want to know when I put complaint in but tackle box sent me a voucher which they didn't have to but they did.

Luck of the draw, depending on the local staff in my experience.
The post office have always been fine for me.
I had a parcel delivered to the wrong address by a non post office courier. Our postman recognised the porch from the picture sent as proof of delivery, he then went and picked it up then delivered it to me.
I wonder how many couriers would do that?

It's funny that everyone blames the couriers but not the companies that choose to use "incorrect" couriers though.

Evri maximum claim is £25 so if companies are sending anything above that, it is at their loss if something goes wrong (unless they claim through their insurance)

DPD and UPS were considered the more premium carriers but with more and more e-commerce businesses and online trading, all of the couriers are struggling to handle the volumes
