Yeah see for me I prefer the dials over the push buttons, the bivvy lights a good idea, the battery life indicator, the ease of battery's as you mentioned.
Maybe not worth that increase no but definitely more features and functions that suits my needs.

My honest answer would be use your alarms until they die of old age, there is often no need to 'upgrade' for the sake of it.
I'm not going to get into the Fox vs Delkim debate, even though I do use Delkims. I had Delkim ST's for nigh on 20years, with no faults (other than my own), they worked, they still work, although the alarm speakers are starting to die, which since i use a receiver is not a major problem.
I did replace them last year with the new Delkims, and promoted the old ones to pike fishing. Not had any rain problems with the new ones.
We are often conned into new equipment by clever marketing when we dont need to change, but tackle firms do need to make money...

The Micron X receiver does have volume control, the thread is stainless steel and they are obviously all weather sealed. I've used them in heavy rain and down to -5 and no issues.
I wasn't sure about push buttons as my other alarms are Delks, but they have an audible beep feedback so they are actually better in low light.
Batteries have lasted well over a year without replacement, I have spares in the van so that's not an issue. Range is for miles so no issue there.

I guess that there is an aspirational aspect to owning the top of the range model. Not something I'm fussed about so I'd rather put £400 towards a ticket.

Interesting, tbh I carry spare batteries regardless so wouldn't be any different there I guess. As for the colours I'd only want a red, orange and green as that's what I have on my MXRs and I like to be able to quickly identify which rods caused the indication.
I'll look a little more into the mini micron x before completely making a decision.

If you really want the RX+ and have the dough I would just get them, as you'll end up with them in the end after buying and selling cheaper ones. I did the same years ago before I bought the TXI.
My point is, if you don't care about the bragging rights of top end alarms and only care about the features I would save £400 and spend it on something that actually catches you fish, a ticket or bait.

I have had the fox micron X and microns since they first came out and am very pleased with them.
No real negatives, but I add an elastic band to secure the covers so they don't come off in my rucksack and accidentally turn on, but if you have a buzzer bar case it wouldn't be an issue.
I also have a pair of microns for my day set up and they have also been brilliant.
If I though I was compromising in some way then I'd have "better" more expensive alarms but it really isn't a case of saving money with an alarm that costs less as they do everything that is needed and are reliable.

Ive owned both, Sensitivity range is much better on rx plus. Leds are better quality, tones are for me nicer and you have that distinctive fox low tone, I'd imagine they are just made better in general. That said for the money the micron x is a decent alarm. The only issue I had is they has a bit of wobble on the buzzbars when screwed down. I'd say if you can afford them go with rx plus.

Out of interest is anyone using RX+ alarms in conjunction with JAG snag ears? Just checked and I'm currently using the small base plate. JAG do advise the large for FOX alarms so although my MXRs are ok with the smalls I'm thinking I'll have to change over to the larger base plate being the heads of the RX+ is bigger?

I was going to buy the RX+ but just couldn't justify them at current prices new and second hand.......then looked at the RX digital as I like the fact they have vibrating sensitivity too and nearly bought some until the I3 was offered to me......these have everything the RX digital have plus a few extra functions that make them perfect for me......

Shame they stopped making them,im waiting for fulcrum off here to do his alarms.They could be very interesting as I think he had something to do with the Ace alarms
