Looks like Cadac now do their own. It says they are for the Safari Chef 30 range but unpackaged size is 280mm which fits the Safari Chef 2 as i have just measured it.

But you can find packs of 6 or more on Amazon or Ebay. Just do a search for for Teflon BBQ mats. Just make sure they are under 11 inches in size as that fits the Safari Chef 2 perfectly.

Don't think you can get the small calor gas bottles any more. Think the smallest Calor do is 6kg. I use 4.5kg butane and choice is either 7 or 15 and both the same price

Pizza no problem, burgers no problem, meat like roast chicken, beef or pork joints great. Sausages or chops, ribs etc all good too.

In 1 cobb you could do in one go a full Roast pretty much

Roast chicken
Roast potatoes or wedges
Various veg like mushrooms, peppers,corn cob etc.

And it will be great.


I've never done a fry up on mine as always have a stove n fry pan too.

With regards to an earlier comment about the cobb being much of a bbq, this is kinda true, but you can get a kit wit a bigger coal basket and different grill plate that should make it pretty good.

Cobbs are more of an oven and very versatile
but a lot slower than a gas Cadac ( I got both) gas is no messing waiting for charcoal its instant and clean both got advantages and disadvantages

One thing you may find is numbers of fisheries have banned Barbecues, AND charcoal or wood burning cooking equipment, so you will have to stick to the gas cooking route.

you can use a
5kg Patio gas bottle (Propane) more expensive way of buying propane of course
and you can still get the calor discontinued ones second hand and get them refilled checkout EBAY

After looking at all the options it does look like the cadac is the way to go. I also plan on getting a small gas bottle as mentioned through the thread .

What's the difference between the HP and LP cadacs ? Are some only suited to the 500 canisters ?

LP (low pressure) run off a bottle and regulator HP (high pressure) run direct from screw in cans
BUT the new Cadac versions (LP) you can simply buy the relevant adapter and run what you want to use

IM pretty sure these are the makers selling these ........its a bargain way to get a cheap new unit IMO

I KNOW it comes with the quick release adapter as I sent them a msg and asked them

so you just need a rubber gas hose + a regulator for what ever type of bottle gas propane or butane you use and a jubilee clip
