Use a zip tie around the screw and another around a spoke -tie together with a piece of cord -leave enough slack to unscrew
. Can even attach a big swivel or clip at each end to rotate. It can stay permanently attached so no loss.

Simple, paint it bright orange. No need to fanny around as many are suggesting.

I always paint mine white couple of years ago I dropped one on a sloping river bank it went straight in the river tried ages to get one bought a wrong thread one
so in the end took it to a nut n bolt stockist bought a bolt and a penny washer I super glued on it works a treat I always use it as saw one guys collapse in the middle of a storm there was so much tension on it he had a hell of a job

Oooh i like it .... though drilling would be my favoured choice but Im hopeless and so aint drilling nothing

I bought two ... one each of different sizes .... £23 on a screw in the end

that theory only works if i was aware, when and where i lost it ... I have no idea where i lost the first one
