I use a Canon EOS M6, before this I had a G5.
It's small, can be used with an intervalometer, has a flip screen and takes amazing images.
I'm sure there's newer version now, had mine 3-4 years.

As I see it, if you're not gonna want to buy additional lenses you'd be better off with the g series, and if you are it makes no sense to buy into the eos m kit now it has little prospects for future upgrades, and little chance of adapting the lenses to other systems

Agree Dave.
I'm considering flogging my M6 + lenses to fund a move to the R system. The camera's not worth much but the lenses still fetch decent money, especially the 32 1.4. I reckon I can get half way to funding an RP with that RF 50 1.8. Problem is, despite the very good reviews of the RF 50 I just know it's not going to be as good as the EFM 32 (which I would miss dearly). Hoping the full frame would account for that.

I know what you mean yonny, there are a couple of mft lenses I love that there just isn't equivalent glass in other systems.
Full frame lenses only have to be half as sharp as crop sensor ones to give the same detail, the trouble is, why would you upgrade the camera for the same image quality?
I'll probably start migrating to canon at some point after they get a few more decent compact lenses, but I'm happy for the minute knowing I still have a couple of body upgrades available in mft.
Once a speedbooster is available the crop sensor R mount body's will be an interesting option

That's it mate, seems crazy to start spending hundreds/thousands for a similar result. But if I don't do it soon the M gear will be worth nothing and wont be supported so I'll be starting from scratch.

So are we asking for the impossible? Is there no such thing as a compact point and shoot camera, with flip round screen and either intervalometer built in, or capable of plugging one in?
I would ideally like to downsize from my Canon G6, which is what I understand to be a bridge camera.
Really don't want to have to upgrade to dslr to get what I want the camera to do, especially when I only catch a handful of fish per year lol.
Ideally, don't want to be spending any more than £400.
If such a camera doesn't exist, then I'll stick with my G6 until it or the remote dies lol.

Buy used or hire one first mate, going from higher end crop sensors to low end full frame you often lose more than you gain. I kept my omd-em5ii over the a7 1 and 2 6d 1 and 2 and d750. Image quality wasn't in the same league in the situations where the big sensor actually had an advantage and c-af on the em5 was useless but handling, control, features, speed... It wasn't even funny how crap some of those body's were to use.
(I should add I really liked the 6dmk2, might grab one again at some point)
