Although I try to be fishmeals responsibly I understand the view point. Although far more is going into pet food and being turned into cheap fertiliser than what goes into fishing baits. Even the feed used to farm fish contains fishmeal in almost every instance. I've worked on a “milk and nut” type bait for a lot of years now and just as we release it with the idea of offering an alternative that's sustainable and works on a different level to fishmeals baits.....milk proteins rocket in price 😂
I think at the end of the day one has to realise that to partake in catch and release fishing we must acknowledge it's a blood sport for our own gratification, and thus any thought or approach from a moral stand point is going to cause a lot of mental conflict.

I take it I can boil the oats at home the day before? Is worth adding any oils or pellets?

Yes, yes and yes.
It's sort of steeping the oats and then adding more water afterwards from what I've read.
Oils and pellets are ideal but go for lighter pellets like carp as these sink slower than the dense dark varieties, a splash of hemp oil will do no harm what so ever if it floats your boat.

i tend to just soak mine mate, i dont have a pan big enough to cook 5kg of porridge
honestly follow my recipe and you'll have a milky cloud visible from space.
youve got whole corn whole hemp a blend of the 2, few pellets cant hurt. id add them when your spodding though as theyll just mush up after a few hours soaking.

Doesn't cloud up the water nearly as much as the other ones which is ultimately the purpose of a spod soup
