Best upgrade / tweek I did with mine when I was into it was mains conditioning.
Built a mains conditioner ( swampy mains filter circuit diagram can probably still be found on the web)
Dedicated mains feed so it's not on the house electrics circuit.
Audusa Eupen mains cables for amp and CD player at 60 quid each.
Did loads of other tweeks on what was a entry level set up and it sounded very very good.
Lots of it DIY such as isolation racks for components etc. CD plater damping. Home made sold silver wire interconnects. Even built a rack based on the Russ Andrew rack using MDF.
All good fun but then the kids came along and it's been in the soft for 12 years.

I remember reading about doing that when magazines were a thing, but I chose to leave well alone - didn't fancy burning the house down 😂😂.
