So instead of leads being made of lead, what about made of PVA so that there's no possible water pollution when you drop a lead as bods do and they just litter the lake bottom? Would be quite big to replace lead, but come on, think of the environment, you know?

To be fair if, like me, you tie a lead directly to a leadcore or heavy nylon leader for heli set ups this is a great idea. They're a **** to store set up on the rod

I can't see the increase in size being that much of an issue, if you offset the additional drag during the cast with 18ft 10lb test rods.
I reckon you could be on to something. I would suggest a Pva brolly to save carrying it back to the car, but Fox perfected them years ago.
