Yes, three times. Mangled. Glued up its tail and covered it in carp care.
Yes I've met Adrian once, and loads of others too. George Clooney and George Micheal included whilst fishing the river, or on my way. Blokes, even famous ones always talk to you when you have state of the art fishing gear with you.

They are all great fish
I like the non fish ones as well, the wedding going on a few yards away and the silhouette on the bivvy looks like Kraftwerk

It is a lump. It weighed 18lb. At the time it was the third largest Barbel ever caught from the Thames I was told. It's not the Barbel that went on to break the record either. I caught it on this 1.25lb Darent Valley Avon/quiver rod and tiny Drennan match reel, both of which I now use for Perching. I have a pair of both.
The Thames was in flood, I was stupidly undergunned, as the reel held less than 100 yards of 15lb line with the deepest spool on. It took me a long time to land it. Hardest fight I've ever encountered from any fish ever.
