As with all lines, ignore the BS and go by the diameter. I've used the .38 rated as 15lb in the UK. Will clearly break much higher than 15lb but does behave well for a .38 line and I found it to be tough and cast pretty well for a heavy-ish mono

2 spools of 0.38 15lb arrived today

Here are the breaking strains for CM70 and CM90 taken from tacklebox tests.

Berkley Connect CM70
12lb - breaks at 17.07lb 0.34mm, actual 0.32mm
15lb - breaks at 21.03lb 0.38mm, actual 0.37mm

Berkley Connect CM90
12lb - breaks at 15.27lb 0.34mm, actual 0.33mm
15lb - breaks at 19.29lb 0.38mm, actual 0.35mm


Best not to over estimate this....


For the record as GR60 has been mentioned..

Gardner GR60
12lb - breaks at 17.76lb 0.35mm, actual 0.34mm
15lb - breaks at 20.36lb 0.40mm, actual 0.39mm

So, for best breaking strength for a 15lb spool the CM70 wins. GR60 is likely to have the best abrasion resistant due to thicker diameter.
