Very true but how many you catch is the question. Going bait on my lake really does catch a shed load of fish. Yes you can catch on different baits as I've done but the going bait really does wipe the floor with most others

I have had an experience where I tried to move away from the bait type most people were using on a lake and had no interest from the carp in the new bait. I suppose if I prebaited for some time the results may have been different. Sometimes you need to use what works. If you can prebait and there aren't teams of anglers using the same bait you can get fish onto your bait especially if it's a higher quality bait than the fish are used to.

Never actually experienced that myself ,I've always done well enough with baits I know haven't been used by anyone else , at broom in particular where the op was on about originally I hammered the place on Nash purple squid and I know most were using cell. It can definitely work In your favour being different
