Crikey this has jogged some great memories from my childhood. We used to use a piece of flake on the hook with a big bit of crust threaded up the line a little.

Presentation is EVERYTHING and any unnatural movement they will know, seen it countless times, wind and tow make your bait move in different ways, flat calm or get the wind working for you and the bites will be more forthcoming

The great think about bread as a bait is that it's absorbant and versatile
Add a little fish oil to your hookbait. Or a little dip in some glug
Don't tell anyone, but a little smear of peanut butter can make it very appealing....

My mate is floater mad, and gets them, enyway in open water he ofter uses a size 12 korda mixa hook because he has to, thay ain't stupid 🙄 sometimes
