Like said a carp trailing line , but they always seem to be a slow and steady run unless they are spooked . Or eels .

Put some tubing on the hook to fixate the hair. You will know if you're done when the tubing moved up the shank of the hook.

Thanks again for your thoughts, I've not
tried 4oz leads and bigger hooks, I'm on
size 6 at the moment and 2.5 oz leads, that
may work,
eels, Mmmm, I will have to find out if there
are any in there, screamers, yes they
were all that, without seeing what goes on
ar the rig end it's mainly a guessing game,
but, I'm not going to give up (YET).

Did they take line? Delkims do make absolutely anything sound like a screamer.
Heard my mate have an absolute screamer the other day, only to look round and he had hooked a roach that was making the bobbin shake up and down half an inch.

Last time i had anything like this there were a fair few tench around. I pit it down to them picking the hookbait up but not being able take it down far enough for the hook to take hold. Had a few bigger tench that were nailed in between so assumed it was smaller fish
