Horrible things, kill lots of chicks those do, seen a few in my garden over the years with their heads missing, pull them out of the nests
I'm guessing a cat had had one of the doves that comes into our garden, Magpies picking away at the remains for a couple of days. Crow family, they like carrion and meat

It's only when researching the laws concerning air rifles I found out squirrels are one of the biggest nest raiders. Woodpeckers too.
The mrs likes squirrels but I know if she saw one heading for the magpie nest she'll be asking me to shoot it

Saw a crow jumping up and down on a pigeon. Then took its head of and flew away.
