Not sure whether lobbying for angling to continue was the best of ideas. We can all see what's happening in front of our eyes, London has just declared a major incident because of covid, and yet those in the angling trust keep pestering MP's for angling to continue. Abit of empathy would be nice, and acknowledge the situation, shut up shop for a month or two, and help out. I wont be going, weather is pants, I'll save it for the warmer months

I hope those who fish, fish responsible as For one im glad it's aloud as it's important for those who need the escape to be able to do so. It's not selfish for someone with PTSD or other issues to want to be able to sit and relax by the lake side. I no how important this is personally. But I can see both sides that some will be idiots as there'a always is idiots in all walks of life.

Agree mate
I do hope that now AT have secured angling during lockdown they produce some guidelines for us to follow (similar to the Lockdown Bailiff and Fishery management guidelines on their site) and not just sit sit back and class it as exercise and let us interpret that as we wish.

lockdown for bailiff etc and they are stating up to 15 people at one time during a work party

It worked perfectly last year – in fact I've just printed off the sheets and signed and dated them, giving authority to go and check, over-flows, in-flows, check Fencing, feed stock ponds etc... For two sites, one person per site.
Every time you go you date and sign the back of the 2nd sheet.
We repaired/ put about 250 yards of walkway and pegs at a River section during the last Lock-down, nowhere near 15 people needed, just around 6 skilled people- and all had to be signed off that they was doing essential, time sensitive maintenance work.

Regarding the professional sport comparison, youve got to take into account that its actually a job to the people playing its not just exercise that's why all grassroots has been suspended as that is just recreational.

A bit of a dual edged sword this one,
When the 1st lock down was on the society water I fish picked up a real problem with youths taking over the place smoking ganja on the pegs swimming in the lake poaching etc,
When the lake re opened there had to be 24hr security taken on to get them all moved on as they were abusing anglers etc.
The golf course I play at hasn't been shut for a week yet and already there have been people riding motocross bikes across the greens...people allowing their dogs to crap on the fairways etc etc.
I totally get that it's safer to stay indoors however we are the cats...and while we're away I'm afraid the mice will play.
