You guys have it easy
Try funding a severe lure habit when you're looking at £30 to £50 a time, plus £5 a hook, and fishing where you can lose 10 a day easily
The only reason I can get away with it is that my good lady owns a horse and they eat money !!
I still can't bring myself to spend £800 on a reel though and make do with slightly cheaper gear that works equally well IMHO
There are also tackle tarts in overseas fishing as well

Yes, absolutely crazy. I have fished with Japanese guys who make my collection look like a paupers.
50 plus seafrogs at £150 a pop plus a load more that were crazy money. I outfished himn with a dexter wedge and an £18 stickbait though

It's bad enough loosing spombs at £15 a pop, but a Roman Made lure, oh my god, a crack off with one of them sailing into the drink

I also think it adversely affects how well people can fish. Unless you can afford to lose these really big money lures then you will always be slightly hesitant to cast into the fish holding areas near structure in case you lose them.
With a cheaper one you are happier to bounce them off rocks and under trees etc in my experience.
I lost about £80 on one cast last year, a very expensive popper, with very expensive hooks was engulfed by a big GT that found a reef within about 20 seconds !!!

What kind of women have you been with lol seriously I used to be with someone like that, it's not good. My mrs who I have been with for 8 years nearly doesn't care at all how much I spend or how often I go, I do treat her and the kids a fair bit aswell to new stuff so she has no reason to moan tho, if I didn't she wouldn't care at all, it's my money I'll do what I want with it she has never once looked at my bank

I buy what I need and when I need but tbh I don't buy much anymore. To east to get caught up buying the latest crap then the following year your gears old 🤣. It's all about the last 6ft

some people whos mrs go mad at lads spending money is because not everyone has alot of money spare and the guys spending the money might be the difference between the kids having school uniform or not, having food on the table or not....

I agree with that but if the bloke is doing that then he is a *****, my family comes first and always will. If they needed stuff I wouldn't make them go without.

Make do with what I got don't need the next new rod reel bivvy I could do but I'm told I'm tight lol spend ur money how you like but family alway comes first but I can c what people are saying some blokes and women are selfish any way best of spending your money on good bait and sharp hooks catch more carp than any new bivvy or all singing reel

My ex used to moan at any amount I spent on fishing tackle.
One month I redecorated our living room, new carpets for the living room, our daughters bedroom and probably around £1000 in total and spent £750 on new rods, around £250 on reels, as well as treating her with some new jewellery, a real pearl necklace, (none of your yucky minded liquid pearls) and earings.
Redecorating the house, no problem, spending money on her, no problem, spending money on me "moan, moan, moan". Note she is now very ex!
As for what is too much, I have 2 specimen rods, match rods, carp and pike rods, and reels to suit, along with a couple of decent brolly systems, alarms etc.
I spend what I need on gear, and after experience selling some gear to a mate, cling on to stuff I don't break with the abuse I give it.
