And how many of those that have recovered now have chronic breathing problems, fatigue, etc?
How do they catch it? Care homes, plus all those people that go to the pub/mates house/whatever, then nip round their parents the next day for a few hours without a mask because they are “in their bubble”.......
Don't forget the “underlying health problem” could just mean they were overweight, or had asthma, were diabetic - not terminally ill.

I dont agree with the pub theory although it won't have helped, the virus started escalating in sept when the schools and colleges went back but i still dont understand how its getting into care homes when nobody apart from carers and doctors are allowed in them.

Perhaps because the carers have children at home?
And more likely because a huge percentage of people are just ignoring the rules and doing what they like anyway. Perfect example was yesterday when police stopped a mini bus of mixed households who had driven into Wales, that's been on lockdown for weeks. These people apparently had driven there to enjoy the snow.
And on the pub thing. I'm a tradesman in a small town, so I know a lot of the other tradesmen. I live near a pub with outdoor seating. Through sept when the weather was nice, every night I'd see the same vans in the car park and the same group of ten or so guys sitting at the tables, no social distancing. Now I know damn well that they don't all live in the same house and I know they ain't all working at the same place. So they are in ten houses one day, meet up that evening for a pint on the way home, then ten different houses the next day etc etc. It boiled my piss. Went on for weeks until it was too cold to sit outside. But I still saw the vans each night so they must have been inside until the pub was forced to close for tier 4.
You can set all the rules you like, but if people don't follow them short of putting the army on the streets there's not a lot more anyone can do to stop it spreading.

Early in the pandemic as so little was know there were instances of hospital patients leaving hospitals with covid and then spreading it back into the homes but this was stopped a long time ago when they realised what was happening.
Recently though this would not have happened and people that work in the care homes or visitors have spread it onto the homes.
Maybe if the workers/visitors had followed the guidance then they would not have caught it and then subsequently spread it into the homes and killed residents/family members.
The surge in Sept/Oct was probably down to uni's etc restarting term, schools had already been open for 2 months and there was no surge in cases when they opened. The facts showed that young adults had the highest numbers of Covid cases in all areas around the country in Sept/Oct, this was well covered in the press and was followed by students claiming to be the victims when they knowingly and deliberately ignored the rules as they wanted the Uni experience. They then spread this further into older age groups and the inevitable happened.
The simple fact is that if you follow the guidance all the time especially when your outside of your home then your unlikely to catch it but you have to follow it all the time not just when you remember/decide to follow it.
I have no doubt that hundreds of thousands and possibly millions of families decided to ignore the guidance over Xmas and will do so again over the new year and this will lead to a surge in numbers. The government keeps saying that people need to take responsibility for their actions but again this is being ignored by many. How many visitors, additional cars have you seen appearing in drives and visiting houses over Xmas, how many people disappeared over Xmas only to reappear a couple of days later... When these people then lose family members they have only themselves to blame but of course they'll deny this and play the victims.
Todays news of the Oxford Vaccine being approved cannot come soon enough and will be rolled out now ASAP.

My Mrs works in a care home and they were covid free until the health association sent people in to test them and then all of a sudden everyone had it.

Covidiots like the one's you mention deserve to be named and shamed in the local press, Social media and national press to set an example.
It's idiots like this that are keeping the Virus spreading and they are killing people as a result of their actions.

You can take all precautions that are possible it only takes a slip up somewhere and you have it,I travel to work via bus service I have sanitizer on off bus mask and even gloves ,then at work I am a key worker in food industry and do t have dinner same time as all others I sit away from people I keep my distance and yet I got it and still isolating.
My mom has it my brother was negative and I got it to all of us tested looks like he had a bad bout of flu but we are all ok just keeping an eye on mom for next few weeks hopefully she will be ok.
I will say Nhs 111 and track & trace have been great whenever we spoke to them,hope people who contact this all pull through as it's not pleasant at all.
