My favourite baiting needle is the Drennan orange handle crotchet needle style. I bought my first mid 80's and at some point I broke it and replaced it, and this posting must be an omen as I broke the plastic handle in half on my second one today. So a visit to EBay shortly.
Avoid the Fox Edges ones, I bought two red handled ones and snapped them both in just two sessions. The steel is that brittle it does not like any bending whatsoever and they are that brittle they just snap.
I also have a set of crotchet needles of the thinnest ones Aldi sell in their craft sales occasionally and these are my backup ones and they too have lasted me years.

I agree with that, bought some when I couldnt get hold of the older Fox ones, the one with the orange grip that they discontinued. Broke one first time out. Would love to get hold of some original ones, got 1 left, also agree with the post about the nash one that looks like a rifle, been great so far

to keep a bait in place on the hair I put a piece of elastic band through the loop then pull it into the bait before tying the no knot on the hook, with the snowman I put a small rubber bead on the hair before tying the loop, when both baits are in place slide the bead tight up to the bait then tie the knot on the hook.
