Amnesia makes a brilliant shockleader, has done for years, although the black is softer than the clear, I will use either happily, on my Spod, Marker or my fishing rods.

I've also found that thin braid can twist around the lead boom ring on long chucks.

Try using leads with a ball bearing swivel, it definitely helps.
