I forgot to say after working for Volkswagen Commercial my son set up his own business converting T4 7 T5 vans. He had to give it up, despite making good money, as the average owner was a complete **** and he couldn't handle dealing with them any longer.

We are a small independent business but have 3 of them on the road all the time working nationwide, most common issue is the turbo going which seems to be the only weak point. Each time Renault have honoured the warranty and replaced free of charge.

Gotta be the VW Caddy maxi, it's the perfect combination of fuel efficency 52mpg and size. I had a T5 and with it lowered and running 20inch rims the economy dropped to 28mpg

Having driven vans and trucks for the past 15yrs vw t6/t5 hands down I've driven transit pegeout boxers and bipper l200 hilux currently Own traffic sports, kangoo ,bipper t5 t6 merc x class and the vw everytime all owned from new never really had an issue with any reanult locks mainly Peugeot slow but comfortable l200 heavy on juice hilux fault less merc only just goto couple of months old nothing yet transit reliable vw like driving a car but high both t5 t6 are auto yes there expensive you could buy 2 traffic sports for 1 vw highline but if you do a lot of miles and can afford it vw most comfortable and practical to drive rear seats removeable and easy sat navigation simple Bluetooth easy and clear zircon freezing only fault with the t6 electric boot close got a couple of stones in and wouldn't lock tight vw sorted it no problem I actually got it removEd to prevent it happening again

My work van is a 67 lwb transit, my mate who I work with has the same but crew cab. I don't know if they have since improved but both of ours are absolute bags of 💩. Numerous issues with both of them, some on both vehicles. We swapped over from Renault traffics to these because of the price, and we'll both be going back to them when the leases are up. Absolutely terrible.

Got rid of mine after having it for 6 months, twice broke down returning from fishing trips, Reading and France, with injector problems and going into limp mode on the fast lane of the M4 isn't fun.
I understand the newer model has the injector problem ironed out now though but I lost faith in it.
I've now a Merc Vito and its faultless.

VW 6.1 tempest for me, 2 of the three lakes I fish I can park behind the rods.
After 25 years of running a fleet of work vans and trying quite a few of them the VW's have been the least problematic all the rest have been gash, Mercs, Renaults, Fords, LDV wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, I will say a good friend of the father in law who has been buying, selling and hiring vans out for donkeys years will only hire Toyaota Hiace's out as in his words they're bomb proof and hire vans need to be reliable.

Had exactly the same limp mode problem and had it happen on the M4 too.
If you have a van from that era any 4 of the injectors can go at any one time which is disconcerting to say the least.
Bit the bullet on mine and replaced all 4 with new and it's been faultless since and up to 160k now. Cost me a grand though.
