My quick reply this morning does not read well and should have been explained more.
I suggested Heli-safe to the O/P as he asked the question.
I to am not of dropping the lead for the sake of it.
My reason behind using the ESP bead is so I could make a safe rig and not a death rig as posted!!
The diameter of the bore of the bead is roughly the same as the outer of the tubing.
I literally push the bead onto the top of the tubing so that it doesn't pass right through.
This will hold on a cast and the drop.
In the event of breakage this needs very little resistance to come off the end of the tubing. And I have checked this.
I admit that my original post was a bit misleading and bearing in mind I've been fishing longer than I care to remember I would never fish at all costs.

Ive seen this set up used by a few guys and it does seem safe , It is important to get the right top bead that will slide or use the drop off type to make sure the rig can come off the tubing and it would be safe, although ive not used it i would probably aim for a korda drop off bead type arrangement there so you know the rig comes clear no matter what.
The components are the important part though so they work together.
