thanks mate
but I have been using crimps in my sea fishing for years
I was just interested in knowing if the problems they had at the beginning were fixed and apparently the crimps have now been changed to a different sort of metal and its all sorted

Do you know how to tell the difference between the old and new styles? I've got a load of their krimps in my tackle box and now I'm paranoid I might have a mixture of old and new. Wondering if the safest thing might be to chuck the lot and start agin.
I did stop using them when they first came out as I had a fairly high percentage fail on me, but that was before the new krimps I'm sure.

Been using the old krimps for 2+ years and never had an issue. They're great for really low chods/stiff rig sections.
Like the suggestions about blobbing. Will be using that.
As long as you line the crimp in the groove properly, they're fine.

luckily he says the old krimps (which I have loads of) are still fine with Mouth Trap, which is the only time I use them

But he says the old Brass Krimps will split in half if left under tension for days or weeks ??? thats why they changed them to copper

but then goes onto say 'they are ok with hybrid stiff or mouth trap, just don't use them with the tow rope' (or whatever it's called), bit odd but that's what he says LINK

Ditto with the Gardner ones. Absolutely identical to the Korda ones apart from the handle coating is different but same head on both, probably from the same factory in China.
I've used mine with flouro and also amnesia with no issues but I do blob the end.
Useful to know about the new Korda Krimps though as I will probably use them if the Gardner ones become difficult to find.
