You may be right. I've used one of these for a few years until I got my v2 brolly.
Weight 4.8kgs including too many pegs and groundsheet. I have a wrap for it too that I'm not sure the weight of but without the groundsheet I'd say it'll be 8kgs max.
To my mind a brolly system is for mobile anglers who want quick setup, lightweight and enough coverage, so I was a bit surprised to see some weigh more than a tempest bivvy, titan etc

Sorry to resurrect this, but I've just had the displeasure of buying a Wychwood HDMR mkII system. On first use it leaks from the seam on the rib where the plastic retainer clip for the short storm pole is so water either drips on your head or feet. I sent it back, got a refund and bought another one elsewhere as I like the design of the whole thing. Lo and behold, the second brolly leaked in exactly the same place. Wychwood don't want to know - told me I just must be incredibly unlucky (maybe it was karma for owning a Fox supabrolly that was fine for years and years. It's probably repairable but it's not the point, 2 brand new brollies both leaked the first night they were put up from exactly the same place. Think I'll just bite the bullet and go Trakker or something.

yes I have heard this before someone else had 2 sent them back then got a refund you must have bought them only joking luckily those brolly`s have the 5 year warrantee

Funny enough I bought the new Wychwood Tactical Brolly used it in a proper storm the first time I used it it was perfect I always use a groundsheet and would of seen even a single drip
however someone on here bought the same thing and it leaked they changed it the second one leaked so refund

to balance it I saw 2 other reports on facebook saying like mine how good it was in storms !

so seems quality control at the makers needs seriously looking into shame really as Wychwood make bloody good gear especially their previous brolly range at not pull your pants down prices either but they are in great danger of losing there reputation

Don't alot of good reps in the tackle industry go to s##t sooner or later? Sometimes it's just individual products that bring them down though.
Let's hope this is a blip, they've made some good gear over the years.

Tempest brollies really are hard to beat mate. Its modular aswell so you can buy the base brolly and add what you want to it

To be fair to Wychwood, after 3 weeks they have got back to me today and are sort of sorting it out. Well, they're sending me some sealant and a few freebies. Not ideal, but if the sealant (Aquasure) stops the leak I guess it's better than binning what is otherwise a brand new brolly.

Aquasure is a marvelous product but shouldn't really be their answer to fixing the problem certainly one I wouldn't accept.

Wow. ‘Here's some sealant, fix it yourself' is absolutely shocking. It would be going back and I'd buy something else.

Fwiw I've just got the Solar Undercover brolly system and it's sound. Doesn't leak anyway...
