It's not hard to see the real issue if you can get past the usual pseudo macho bull****. Water cannons? Set fire to a woman in her coat! Ffs - put your ****ing Andy McNab colouring books away for a minute and grow up.
If there's any doubt about the root of the issues, try this for size.
The new crime laws include a sentence of up to 10 years for vandalising memorial statues. There are rapists who serve only 5 years in jail. So this government cares more about a ****ing statue of winston Churchill than it does about the safety of your wives and daughters.
As for the Met police. A woman murdered by one of them. Another one today 'removed from people facing duties' for sharing a ****ing joke about it on social media. .... they were approached by the original organisers of the vigil with a covid safe plan but refused to compromise. Little wonder the thing went south so quickly is it? Patel has said she wants an independent report. Just like the numerous ones regarding the institutional racism - with no effective follow up.
And Boris... he threw them under the bus as per usual. Sent them out to enforce his cabinets lockdown laws while he sits at home with his candle outside. Pathetic.

You make a good point about 10/5 years for statues/rape but the rest is all a bit put together in my opinion.

But that's not quite true though, maximum sentencing can be up to life, and starting sentences of around 5 years. The maximum sentencing for damaging statues is 10 years, probably with a starting point of around a suspended sentence

1 in a 100 rape claims [when they do come forward , so , could be double that figure ] end in conviction , not much of a deterrent for your average rapist , same with burglaries and the majority of crime nowadays , your lucky and in the minority if you even see a copper !

What about men's rights and feelings? I've never ever hurt a woman in my life and yet I'm being labelled as being part of the problem.
A young women on TV was questioned about tarring all men with the same brush. Her reply was she didn't have to time to differentiate. Not the attitude I warm to.

So because a serving police officer committed murder its OK for people to riot about it on the streets. Pity it wasn't a school teacher, they should blow 100 a day away with a water canon or set them on fire, probably the other way round if they had any sympathy for them
