You've never met me, I looked you up after you said I had because I didn't want to be rude, deffo mixing me up with someone. I actually have all the bivvys I've ever owned, all in working order, as I frequently introduce people into the sport and lend them things until their budgets can afford it.

Had two Labs a chocolate KC registered bitch from a local farm and a black lab bitch bred by an old gamekeeper who'd been breeding labs for 50 years both bought as shooting dogs for flushing/picking up etc... I was told not to have a chocolate lab for shooting as they are too head strong "how right they were" but I knew it would be a deal breaker with the wife so we had the chocolate one Jessie first she was adamant we were not having a dog of any sort soon as she seen her it was a done deal then six months later we had the black one we named Bell.
Lost Bell the black one first she picked up a virus in the Brain woke up one morning and she was fitting and frothing at the mouth, put her straight in the car and off to the vets where she was still fitting and within ten minutes she was gone best gun dog ever and was doing it until a year or so before she passed at 11 years and six months old, Jess the chocolate one we lost November last year it was one week before her 14th birthday absolutely worthless as a gun dog but the most loving loyal dog of the two she just wanted to sniff lamp posts and eat.
It was comical on walks on call back shouting out Jessie - Bell had some looks from other dog walkers

Chocolate labs are only about a fraction of a percent different to other labs, unfortunately that's in the intelligence and patience department lol

TBH I'd love a lab, but I'm firmly of the belief we should be adopting dogs not buying puppies and you rarely see labs up for adoption. I also adopt on the basis of trying to pick dogs with a lot of needs / tricky to rehome because these are the dogs thst usually end up back in the shelter if it's not done right.

No bad dogs just owners or so they say. Would love another dog but my waters don't allow them which is annoying as I was recently offered a one year old ridgeback that was the last of a litter.

"I'm firmly of the belief we should be adopting dogs not buying puppies"
I totally agree if your buying a pet especially following covid where people were buying dogs thinking it would help with their boredom or get them out of the house for walkies when in lock downs then realising the dog was surplus to requirements when they had to go back to work and it was at home locked up all day ripping the house to shreds.
I was buying them nearly 15 years ago, 'different times' for a purpose to train from puppies into adulthood as a working dog it would of been no good adopting a two or five year old Lab and then finding it it clears five fields at the B of the Bang or didn't mix with other dogs on the shoot, both of mine were working dogs it's just the black one outshone the chocolate one tenfold she was very temperamental, some days she had her working head on others it was her ****you head and she'd clear a drive chasing a squirrel before the guns were on the pegs.

working / guide dogs are a bt dfferent and cant always been trained from adoption hence why I've started supporting lucys bowl at events wih raffle prizes.
One thing rescues could do is anxiety / therapy dogs. I'd love to set up a charity that focused on retraining rescues to be therapy animals. I've seen the difference they can make.

a trillion percent true mate, yes dogs can have a certain breed nature but its about management of that.
patience, love and companionship is all they need and I don't believe anyone has every in the history of the living organism regretted having a dog for any other reason that the immense grief of them passing on.
