Case numbers are so low at the moment, and also deaths lag a few weeks behind cases.
EDIT: But yes, as previously stated, much of the panic is media and govt induced, media love a bit of panic and govt love to create a doomsday scenario which they then take the credit for preventing. Sky news are the absolute worst of the media / news.

It's doubling every 2 to 3 days instead of a matter of weeks. So even with most not getting ill from it. If you have a million at thw same time a tiny % will need ICU and frankly we don't have the beds or the staff.
I guess as he's been late to act every time and was reported this time last year to say 'Let the bodies pile high' when scientists advised lock down. Then ****ed xmas a month later. He's being political rather than scientific or caring.
Nothing much has changed anyway.

Symptoms maybe mild Tony so far... But it just mutated around our antibodies and the vaccines. Instead of doubling every couple of weeks like previous mutations... It's doubling every two days. Do you realise this is a massive change? It is this part of the last mutation that is REALLY worrying them. We are now at the stage where the virus is armed and ready to wipe out great numbers of us with a further quick mutation.
One more mutation that goes pear shaped and this thing can wipe out millions of us within a couple of weeks. The infection numbers of the new strain are incredible doubling every two days. One day the naysayers are finally going to realise this. I liken it to a vet explaining to a child that their first pet is terminally ill and is going to die in the next few days. The child does not want to believe it... So convinces themselves that this is NOT & NEVER going to happen.
That's clearly what is going on here. Some people want to look at every possible scenario that means this is NOTHING. It's all just a big hoax. It''s being written on this very forum daily.
If Boris stood up on the evening news and said... "Look folks, this is going the wrong way"... "Lots of us are going to die". There would be outright panic... The world would pretty much implode. They are never going to tell you this news until it upon us. But that is the exact reason our freedoms are seen to being eroded... In a desperate attempt to save us. That's all.
Like the mask wearing at the very start, as an intelligent human being, you have to read between the lines, get what information you can... AND KEEP YOU AND YOUR FAMILY SAFE.
