If a person says something is a conspiracy theory even if they believe it or not then that person is conspiring in that conspiracy theory.
One conspiracy theorist I do like to listen to on various podcasts is Mark Devlin, he talks about conspiracies in the music business and films.
He is very knowledgeable and great at explaining his theories.
He has written some good books too.

It's interesting stuff for sure
The Americans started it all during the Afghan and Russian war. They were pumping millions and millions into Pakistan who were funding the Mujahideen (plural form of mujahid, the Arabic term for one engaged in jihad) for them. Later events and in summary it all back fired and bit them in the arse so to speak. Few good books on the subject
Read a few books on the Russian special forces (Spetsnaz) and the Afghan war, brilliant stores, unbelievable brutality, Mujahideen used to skin them alive if caught, Russians used to drag them around behind tanks or one of the techniques to get them to talk was to line them up with the tank tracks and if they didn't talk they would run over them, slowly up their body length, next...
Rule number 1, never trust the Yanks
The Iran one has to be just around the corner for sure
Turkey, proper melting pot, epicentre of the next world war? (religion)
Then they will be looking at dealing with our Chinese friends for sure, possibly as they are now, commercial war?

haven't heard of Mark I don't think, I am aware that the music industry is awash with illuminati/occult symbolism, whether this is in fact a bit of an inside joke or something more sinister I'm not sure, but it's undoubtedly there.

I think Aidey has pretty much covered the ISIS thing. It's worth pointing out as part of a wider picture and ties in with scozzas comment on the mujahadeen - the Americans basically were playing with fire and encouraged the whole wahabbi jihad thing through saudi to fight the Russians and it's since morphed.
regards Syria in particular, no doubt the west was involved in the original uprisings and support of the 'good rebels'.
the whole gas attack thing was very iffy and I recall a few reports of isis members accidentally firing on the idf and then apologising and also isis fighters being treated by the idf.

It's a bit dense at first but once all the threads start to come together it's ace. (IMHO) On first read there were some parts I had to go back over but that's no bad thing when there's a bit of detail.
And yeah I am - was it my tweed jacket with courdroy elbow patches that gave me away?

Regarding the book - there were a few documentaries made about it all - some on BBC2 prior to publication, and then some more after that investigate the claims made. Tony Robinson did one for Channel 4 after the Da Vinci Code became a big hit. More accessible than the book if it's piqued your interest.
