Has anyone used the new version yet then in 15lb? Is it like the original stuff or should I give it a wide Birth

anyone spooled up with the 12lb from bobco yet??? I need to spool.up for a.trip but want to make sure it's decent stuff before getting let down on a 4 day trip

The original in 15lb was rubbish tbh. Unless you are getting it in a bs under 15lb, I'd use something else

Spooled up with the bobco 12 lb ( bought 4 spools of it £5 a spool bargain)
Used 15lb for years with no issues
Read the tackle box test and seems the 12 is close to the 15 on test
Had it on for 3 months and very pleased till yesterday when I struck into a fish and the line parted at 10 wraps
Could see not reason for the line to part, no kinks or marks
Pulled three wraps off the spool and snapped it when pulling between my hands
Pulled of another ten wraps and did the same with the same result
Then tried the other two rods with the same results
Line now in bin

thx for replying,this was my concern.. my mate bought some ( not from bobco) in 12lb off Ebay, his done exactly the same as you've just said..identical when we were on a session..ill just use it as backing line.

Maybe BobCo bought a batch of 'seconds', hence the knock down price ?

What diameter was this 12lb? I wonder if it's one of the versions with the stupidly low diameter for the stated breaking strain?

There's a 0.225mm and 0.255mm version at 5kg and 6.1kg respectively. I suspect either of those would be easily 'snappable'.

Have the spool in front of me
It does not give a diameter
Just 12lb 1100 meters 1208 yards
One of the reels the line was a lot stronger on the pulling apart compared to the other two
All three were filled from the same spool
Maybe this was the top of the spool
The spool is the same as all of the other technium spools I've ever used
Also the line behaved exactly the same way until it parted
Im fishing a weedy lake and have had a dozen 20 plus on it and a 50 + cat

My bobco spools have a 0.32 diameter written on the spool. I tried to break my 12lb with my hands after reading this and I couldnt snap it.

Just tried on a different spool and it snapped so its coming off. They sold hundreds of spools as well so not good.

If it looks too good to be true...

this certainly tarnishes the reputation of not only the old but I certainly won't be buying a ny of the new stuff now either

I cut perfectly good syncro xt off my reels to put it on as well. Now cutting this off and putting syncro back on 🤬

I wonder where bobco got it all from. There normally a good shop as bought from them a few times.
