Hi,

I'm aware of other threads on this subject but they seem to go "off piste".
Basically I'm thinking 💭 of getting a barrow with a motor.
It's between Nash and Carp Porter

Folks with Nash say they are great and carp Porter are 💩.
But folks with carp Porter say theirs are the best.

So if I'm looking at getting one what's the best one.

Cheers Mike

I can't comment on the Carp Porter, I've not had one.

I've had my Nash Trax Evo since 2019 and it's been faultless, can't really say more than that. I changed the lead acid batteries to lithium when I bought it, just made taking it in and out of the car easier. Only slight issue I'd mention is the welds have started to rust, but only surface.

Spanner in the works but Solars power barrow is meant to be coming Jan/Feb and is meant to be very good. If its anything like their bivvies though I'd probably stay clear...

I've had my Nash trax metro power barrow for over 2 years now and been very happy with it I perfer it over the carp porter power porter as the motor is inside the wheel and is less bulky compared to the carp porter power porter

I haven't had or used either but a couple of the lads on my syndicate have the Nash, and whilst they say its a good barrow, both wish they would have went with the carp porter.

Why not buy a normal barrow and the global conversion kit or alternatively convert your existing one? I have a tri porter and have recently used the global conversion to make it electric powered and it is absolutely brilliant. I carry a lot of gear on the barrow and it has coped with no issues. I just press the button and off it goes - don't even need to pick it up as it has three wheels! All in all total cost was £700 which is significantly cheaper than both the power porter and Nash version! And it does exactly the same job!

My best mate had the power porter for years without any real issues but he got the nash one last year and reckons its in a different league. I go superlight with my little porterlite whereas he has substantially more kit than me and i can't keep up with him....not even close lol. I did notice that the nash seems slightly more compact and very well thought out, he reckons the nash one is a lot better on battery life too

The used metal that Carp porter uses nowadays is just crappy material, you're better off buying a Nash barrow with a DIY electrical kit or wait for the Fox one

Bought my new carporter last year for a total of £595 and i am very careful with all my material (Mk2 barrow + front bar + Back wheels + Tri-Porter handle) I regret it so much it's not worth the money, rust on all connections after a year and yes always used a barrow cover, hinges coming loose , foam on bar handle which tore very quickly, simply worthless, the carp porter kit I have I better put Ngt on it

Fortunately I still had 2 Nash Traxx all terrain barrows, these are 10 x better

Well that's as clear as mud 😁
Carp Porter are on back order ❓
Nash are available ❓

I'm unsure but leaning towards the Nash.

Thanks for the feedback.
(I'm just heading back up the M6 after watching the mighty blue's ⚽ 🏃 get thrashed by wolves so I've got more time to research)

The problem you will have is I bet there are hardly any people who have actually had both to do a comparison. Your best bet is to go and have a look at some in the flesh and decide what you think will suit you best. The comments made about carp porter using crap materials is an odd one for me, they still make the barrows from the same mild steel box section as they always have, and that will likely be the same spec as the Nash one too. One thing I certainly wouldn't do is wait for someone else to release one as with most tackle these days, it's the first customers that do the testing and find it's bad points, before the improved mark 2 version is released

Not quite, my old grey carp porter has 1.5mm thick walls, my Mk6 Power porter has 1.0mm thick walls. Having bought it secondhand I had to reinforce all the badly damaged clamping points.
The wheel/battery tray/motor is very bulky and a pain fitting into the car.
Never had a Nash barrow, but did witness one taking off on it's own whilst it's owner was chatting to me. Luckily he caught it before it went in the lake.
If the OP already has a decent barrow I would suggest looking at the conversion kits, or even buying a new barrow plus conversion kits.

My uncle has had a carp porter since 2009, I have had mine since last year, believe me when I say that the quality cannot be compared, the metal of his is much stronger and the hinges are also of better sturdy quality

Comparing it with my 2 old Nash traxx all terrians Evo, the metal used on the carp porter is a joke, even my old Chub transporter barrow (yes, I have 4 barrows) is made of sturdier metal
Are you sure?
