Do you make the hydrolysate yourself?
Do you make the hydrolysate yourself?
No its imported from someone in Europe. Theres no way i could make it lol
its pharmaceutical grade expensive but worth it, its very different to the chicken hydros you see, Ive been so busy with work i haven't had i chance to really put it through its paces yet but first time i used it i caught i nice fish from a hard water that id been blanking on. But theres limited stock and its selling quicky!

Not trying to be controversial here, I'm genuinely interested. Can someone explain to me why chicken liver products are so hated on and beef liver is the holy grail?
I've been using BAF/DNA chicken liver hydro for years and it's mega. Fish go absolutely mad for the stuff. What is it that makes beef liver that much better?
Also as a side note. Slightly suspicious of how a bait company I've never heard of has managed to source and import this. I thought you needed a DEFRA license to import and the liquids around are mostly imported by the select few and them resold through third parties.

chicken liver hydros are good i never said they weren't ive used them for years myself and had great results. All i said is the bovine liver is very different.
And me personally have been interested in bait for years and spent a long time trying to source certain ingredients and finally got a chance to buy a small amount of beef liver so i did, like i said i haven't really had a proper chance to put it through it paces, so i carnt really say its better or worse than the chicken yet but, when i did use it a had i good result on it. But alot of people have brought it now so we will soon see how it performs. And you probably havnt heard of Beta Baits because we only launched on sunday 10th sep.

another thing is when ive played about with different liver powders over the years i found the beef to be far better than the chicken, literally massive difference. when i get beef liver powders out about 100 flys and wasps come out of nowhere, my dog goes crazy for it. dont get nothing like that when i get the chicken one out. i kno dogs and flys aint carp but it still say to me that its far more attractive. But the beef powders were not hydrolysed like the chicken ones so when i used them in baits i would mix beef and chicken liver powders 50/50. the liquids are totally different anyway and i actually rate bafs and stickys liver liquids.
but anyway thats the reason i wanted to source the beef liver liquid.

Can I suggest you revisit and edit your website.
1. Maple Nutt crunch (spelling mistake in the title of your bait on the main page)
2. This beef liver.... You have said it is a liver extract in the write up? An extract is not the same as a hydrolysed product. The manufacturing method is totally different, as is the end result. I presume you've stuck the word in by error.
Small things, but if you want to be taken seriously as a new player in a busy marketplace, better to get these things right.

thanks for letting me know about that i can get that changed straight away. Im dyslexic and reaally struggle with spelling and grammar so i apologise ino it really matters about things like that ive had the lecture of loads of peole allready lol 😂
so i made the website from stratch myself without any help from someone who can spell lol or noz what they are doing tbh
so its been hard learning how to make a website from scratch. especially when i make bait for a living and not great with tech etc.

Well done then, as I thought it was a very good, well laid out site, excellent format and easy to navigate!

so i just thinking about what you said about the extract bit not sure if i agree tbh i might be wrong but, it is a hydrolysed beef liver extract, kno? like a hydrolysed fish extract, hydrolysed salmon extract or other liver extracts like if you search in google alot of hydrolysed liver products mention extrat in them so im confused 😐
for me extract means that it been extracted from the liver, ovs while trying to keep as much nutrients and good stuff as possible.
the key word is hydrolysed.
i could be totally wrong and get schooled here but im not one of them people who carnt listen and learn and except when im wrong. by all mean thats what the forum is for learning and discussing, debating.

Sounds like splitting hairs, but hydrolysed extract would be the bits that were left over after the best bits of were removed, rather than the whole thing.
There's no way a whole salmon would be hydrolysed, the fillets are taken off and the “waste” hydrolysed.
So hydrolysed liver would be the whole thing, hydrolysed extract is the left over bits.
Not to say its not good though.
Anyone like chicken nuggets that are from “recovered, reformed sources”? 🤮

Technically speaking, hydrolysed liver (for example) is a full liver that has been subjected to a reaction to break down the proteins into dipeptides and amino acids. Usually with enzymes, but it can be done with acids and/or bacteria. These products are usually quick thick in suspension, such as the Sticky/DNA etc chicken liver hydro's. An extract is as you say, literally parts of the liver components that are removed from the full product and then often stored in a solvent. Many years ago, several companies used to sell a BP Liver Extract liquid (DT certainly did as I still have some) - this is a much thinner liquid as often the solvent was alcohol based. From memory most came from Aryton who were based in Liverpool.
CC Moore used to name several of their products as extracts but changed the wording to compound when they saw the light as such.
The spec sheets for your beef liver liquid should say what you have.
As an add in, for yourself or anyone else wondering about the difference between beef liver and others, have a look at the SAE Baits website. There is a superb piece there about beef liver on a bait they are testing.
